nope, its a margherita. mozzarella pesto has tomatoes sliced on top instead of a tomato sauce

if you pause at 16:53, you can clearly see a pesto-like sauce spread around the pizza, it cannot be a margherita.
while I agree on the lack of sliced tomatoes on top, it's not like mozzarela pesto pizza doesn't have the tomato sauce. Also, I see some chunks in the sauce that look like small wedges of cherry tomato.
Therefore, I'm still convinced that it's mozzarela pesto :D

youre forgetting that this is an in-general "foreign food" restaurant, not specifically an italian one. they are under no obligations to be authentic. the chef could easily have made a margherita pizza and then decided "hey pesto is made of basil why not slap some on too lol"

Margarita Pizza is pretty popular in Japan, and they always put basil on top. Looking on google images, that seems to be the standard way.

sorry thats incorrect, its made with basil or arugula pesto as the base, never with tomato sauce (thats the whole point of calling it a "pesto pizza"). you can see the pizza in this is swimming in tomato sauce and has the margheritas signature patchy cheese and basil leaves. its a margherita pizza with pesto as a topping.

the pizza served in this episode is traditional italian pizza which is quite bland compared to "modern" pizza like Pizza Hut's Supreme Pizza.

That's just American style. I like the traditional style better myself. (Well I admit I also like Hawaiian pizza hahaha.)

It's really good. I've had some in Japan and Taiwan like it, and I think they're more true to the Italian style. Can't stand American Pizza anymore :P It's all about the quality of the flour.

Pizza with pineapples are common in The Philippines :p Not bad though... Still, nothing beats the classic Italian Pizza.
